SBRI funding competition: using technology to improve dermatology

NHS Scotland, in conjunction with Scottish Enterprise, will fund up to £450,000 for innovative technology and digital platforms that improve dermatology care.
This is a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition. The aim is to develop technology that will improve diagnosis and ongoing management of skin conditions.
The competition is looking for proposals that:
- help patients manage their health from home
- free up clinic appointment times for those patients who need a longer consultation with a dermatologist
- minimise the time consultants spend on administrative tasks
Industry partners such as local government, third and independent sectors, can carry out the project on their own or with others.
This competition has 2 phases. Up to £150,000 is allocated for phase 1, and up to £300,000 for phase 2:
- phase 1: technical feasibility. Projects should last up to 6 months. Projects can range in size up to a total cost of £30,000 each.
- phase 2: development and evaluation. Projects should last up to 1 year. Projects can range in size up to a total cost of £150,000 each.
The competition opens on 14 November 2016.
